Conditions Treated by Acupuncture
Acupuncture can treat a wide variety of health
conditions, from lowered immunity, to nausea, to musculoskeletal pain, to women's health. The number and frequency of acupuncture
treatments varies depending on the specific type of condition, and also how long the condition has existed.
Pain
Musculo-skeletal pain (low back, neck, shoulder, hip, etc.), arthritis, and joint pain usually will respond best to
a short series (3-7 visits) of frequent acupuncture treatments, as each treatment builds on the next, helping to reduce inflammation
and promote healing circulation in the affected area to reduce pain.
Women's health
Fertililty,
menstrual disorders, and menopause, respond very well to acupuncture. Often treatments will be continued for 3-6 months at
regular intervals to balance hormones and regulate reproductive organs. I work frequently with patients undergoing assisted
fertility procedures, and am credentialed to treat on site at Reproductive Partners in Redondo Beach, CA. Natural pregnancy
care is also available for nausea, heartburn, and pain syndromes.
Support recovery from cancer, trauma, post-surgery
Cancer
patients can benefit from improved immunity, reduced nausea and helping the body to effectively eliminate the toxins of chemotherapy
as well as reducing the side effects of radiation. Post-surgical recovery is facilitated by reducing inflammation, pain, and
swelling. Post-traumatic stress disorder is commonly treated with acupuncture using a specific protocol of auricular acupoints
that have proven to be very effective.
Common ailments
Colds, flus, lingering coughs, allergies/sinus
problems, headaches, digestive disorders, constipation, stress-related disorders and insomnia can all be helped by acupuncture
as well. If you are going to the drugstore regularly to buy over the counter medications for common ailments, or are requiring
prescription medications for any of the above ailments, why not try acupuncture or herbal medicine instead? No toxic drug
side effects, no masking over the symptoms or making them worse (antacids for example). Acupuncture is safe, effective, and
has virtually no side effects. Choose acupuncture as your first line of defense.
